Knock Knock
Who’s there?
I Tag!
I Tag who?
I Tag you!
Don’t say you hadn’t been warned: I did say “bad, sad and plainly mad”, and I do have to uphold my motto, poor grammar notwithstanding.
Rajani has “tagged” me to pick out posts pertaining to:
Family
Friends
Myself
My Love
Anything I like (my favorite post)
Being “tagged” is apparently a milestone for a blogger, a
proud manifestation of the fact that someone beyond your near and dear ones
reads your blog. You have Arrived. You have made it to blogging’s upper
echelons. And you want to trumpet these achievements with a witty and original
“tag post”.
Alas, this is easier said than done. I have scrupulously
avoided too many personal details and references in my posts. For sure, my
family and friends are as crazy, beautiful, interesting, loving, maddening and
fascinating as anyone else’s but they are not what I want to write about. I
like to write stories spun out of my imagination and bits and pieces of gossip
and observations of life around me. I like to write about my travels, but stick
to the dry historical and cultural details, and leave out all the juicy parts
which might have brought readers flocking to this site. My blog is a voyeur’s
nightmare. I write stuff for my own pleasure, and I’m happy if any one outside
my family finds it interesting. I am grateful to my very small but loyal group
of readers who keep me out of the blogging doldrums and spur me to keep
writing.
Without further pointless rambling (isn’t that a redundancy?)
here goes, keeping in mind the limitations explained above.
Family: Who doesn’t have an Aunt Lakshmi in their family?
Even if she is almost entirely fictional.
Friends: A dog is man’s best friend, right?
Myself: This is as lame as it gets, but it’s better than
nothing.
My love: The music of Balamurali. For me, it is heaven on
earth.
My favorite post: I’m fond of everything I’ve written, but
for the sheer enjoyment of the experience, and of the reading up I did to write
it, and because it is about one of my favorite places in the world, I’d say
it’s this one.
To seal my position in the stratospheric level at which I
have arrived, there is one final step. I have to now “tag” five others, and
initiate them into the glories of the blogging upper crust. I pick Raja , Ambika, Gowri, Raji and Shyam.
Thanks, Rajani, for the tag. It was fun doing it!
